We got to catch up with Judi Byers, executive director of admissions and financial aid at Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, earlier this year for an in-depth interview on the admissions process she oversees. Today, we’re delighted to share a recording of that conversation as the latest episode in the Clear Admit MBA Admissions Podcast series.

Byers joined the Johnson admissions team in January 2015 from American University’s Kogod School of Business, where she began her admissions career following her own undergraduate studies. By the time she left Kogod, she had assumed responsibility for admissions for the full-time and part-time MBA programs as well as several specialized master’s programs. But when the chance to come to Johnson arose, she jumped at it.

In her three and a half years at Johnson, one of the things Byers is most proud of helping to grow the percentage of women in the two-year, full-time MBA program. Women account for one in every three students in the Class of 2020, a record to date for the school. Byers hopes to continue these strides and welcome even more women as part of future classes.

She’s also excited about the Cornell Tech campus that opened in New York City last fall. As she shares in our conversation, students in Johnson’s MBA program now have a unique opportunity to combine the advantages of the intimate, close-knit Ithaca community with the unparalleled resources of New York. They can choose to take part in weekend intensive courses at Cornell Tech focused on specific topics or spend an entire semester living, studying, and working on the new urban campus.

Byers also goes into detail about each step of the Johnson admissions process and how prospective applicants can put their best foot forward. With the school’s October Round deadline fast approaching—October 10th—you won’t want to miss this opportunity to hear her tips and advice.
