Applicants to Harvard Business School can expect some big news from the school on Thursday, October 6th at noon EST. In a post to the Direct from the Director’s blog, Managing Director of HBS admissions Chad Losee wrote that Round 1 applicants can expect the following:

“All Round 1 applicants will receive an update via their Application Status page on next steps in our process. There are three possibilities:

  1. Invite to Interview – this is very good news! If you are invited to interview, you will receive additional information regarding the process on October 6 – you will then be able to sign up for an interview on October 7.
  2. Further Consideration – also good news. This is a small group of strong applicants who we ask to wait until Round 2, at which point we will review your application again. More info on this process will be shared with you directly if you receive a “Further Consideration” update.
  3. Early Release – unfortunately this means we are not able to move you forward in the process. Our hope is that by letting you know this news early allows you to move forward with other plans.”

These planned updates land roughly four weeks after the program’s Round 1 deadline of September 7th. Admissions interviews can be conducted virtually, on-campus or off-campus.

Of course, MBA LiveWire will light up on Thursday with applicants reporting their invites. And if there are any snags or delays in the release, reports of those will surely surface on LiveWire as well. You could choose—optimistically—to spend your waiting time preparing for an interview. The Clear Admit HBS Interview Guide can give you an important head start. It’s packed with vital, up-to-date interview preparation guidance, including commonly asked questions and advice on how to form strategy around the post-interview leg of the process.

And as always, remember that the Clear Admit Interview Archive also offers a repository of applicant-submitted details about the interview process.

Best of luck!
