Ramone Wildman, Dartmouth Tuck MBA Class of 2027

Age: 33
Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica
Undergraduate Institution and Major: University of Technology, Jamaica
Pre-MBA Work Experience: Account Executive, Jamacia Money Market Brokers (JMMB), 2016–2020; Business Analyst, Sagicor Group Jamaica, 2020–2021; Senior Business Analyst, Financial Services, NCB Capital Markets, 2021-2025

Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to lead interesting and innovative projects in the financial services industry. However, I wanted to shift from an execution-focused role to a more strategic one. I was eager to challenge myself and develop the skills needed to make that transition. Importantly, I wanted to broaden my global business perspective and gain exposure to a wider range of experiences. I believe an MBA offers the opportunity to develop these skills in a structured and intentional manner.

Why did you choose Dartmouth Tuck? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
When considering my options for business school, I thought deeply about what mattered most to me: my family. Tuck makes a conscious effort to create an inclusive and engaging environment for families. Knowing that I would be in a place that prioritizes fostering a strong sense of belonging for my family was very important to me, and Tuck delivered that. Additionally, I experienced the warmth and sincerity of the Tuck community throughout my application process. Through essay reviews and coffee chats, Tuck students were always generous with their time and eager to share their experiences. Their honesty gave me a clearer picture of what Tuck life would be like — a life of collaboration and support. These conversations, along with visiting the campus during Admitted Student Weekend with my wife, gave us confidence that Tuck would provide the academic rigor and global perspective I am seeking, while also offering a strong community for us now and in the future.

What do you believe is your most valuable or unique contribution to the Class of 2027?
I believe my prior work experience offers a distinctive perspective that I can share in the classroom. Coming from a developing market with limited resources enables me to provide insights into how decisions are made there, compared to more well-resourced businesses. Additionally, developing markets are seen as opportunities by many multinational corporations looking to expand and grow. Having someone knowledgeable about cultural differences in smaller markets, like the Caribbean, will add value to discussions.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I enjoy taking road trips with my family. We love getting in the car and driving long distances to new places, experiencing something new. But most of all, I enjoy driving in the countryside/rural areas. The roads are more fun to drive on, and the scenery tends to be more charming and unique.

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Being very intentional about selecting schools. I used to spend a lot of time understanding which MBA program was the best fit for me. When I decided to apply for business school, I had never stepped foot on a university campus in the USA, so I lacked context about the schools I was considering. I conducted extensive research through forums like Clear Admit, attended webinars, and had several coffee chats. That was crucial in my decision to apply to and ultimately choose Tuck.

What is one thing you would change or do differently?
I would’ve invested more time reflecting on and thinking about what was most important to me in this two-year MBA experience earlier in the application process. Having your “Why?” provides direction and clarity in crafting a coherent message for your essays and guiding your school selection.

What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
Preparing for the Standardized test! It was challenging to study for the GRE while balancing a full-time job and a family. However, I have a supportive wife who did her best to create the time and space I needed to practice and encouraged me each time I decided to retake the test, trying to improve my score. It also helped that I had a friend who was applying to the Business school at the same time, so we supported each other through the process. At the end of the day, the test scores are just one part of the application, and you are so much more than the number from a test says you are!

What is your initial impression of the Dartmouth Tuck students/culture/community?
Dartmouth is a fantastic community. The people are incredibly kind and thoughtful. My classmates are smart and accomplished, but thoughtful and kind. People show up for each other, and the promise of support and community is very true! People are willing to invest in you and value connections deeply.

What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
BSAT- Black Students at Tuck, Consulting Club. I intend to join the Entrepreneurship club and Energy Club.

What is one thing you have learned about Dartmouth Tuck that has surprised you?
The strength and support of the school community and the alumni network. From the moment I was admitted, I felt I was instantly a part of a family. I have been supported in every way possible, whether it’s personal or professional; someone is always willing to lend a hand.

What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
I am taking tennis lessons, and I am loving it! I am excited to continue learning and developing my skills.
