Eshan Desai, London Business School’s MBA Class of 2026

Age: 32

Undergraduate Institution and Major: Institution: GN Khalsa College, Mumbai University, Major: Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting & Finance
Pre-MBA Work Experience: Role: Equity Research Associate, Industry: Financial Services, Company: J.P. Morgan, Years: 4

Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
I saw this as a way to gain international experience, build my professional network, and add a credential for future growth in my career.

I knew I wanted to do an MBA at some point. Seven years of equity research work provided me with strong finance experience which I was eager to broaden during the MBA.

Why did you choose London Business School and their One Year MBA?
I enjoyed being a part of diverse teams at work and wanted to continue this during my MBA. I also wanted to be in a major global finance hub during the program. These two factors already made London Business School a top choice for me, whereas its One Year MBA in particular fit perfectly with my background as it builds on a prior masters in management degree and offers majority of the coursework in the form of electives, thereby making it a very tailorable program.

What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
Location, reputation, and class mix.

What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2026?
My work experience (related to equity investment and research with a focus on industrial and healthcare stocks).

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I observe a weekly fast on Fridays to accompany my mother (who does it for her religious belief).

Post-MBA career interests:
I intend to continue my career in equity research post-MBA.

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Speaking with current students to get a perspective of their experience so far.

–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
The English language test. I took the DET which was convenient enough.

What is your initial impression of the LBS students/culture/community?
It truly is a very diverse and inclusive community bringing together a rich mix of various cultures that we experience and celebrate together.

What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
I have joined the Volunteers Club to help organize volunteering activities in London, thereby providing opportunities for students to give back and create a positive impact on the local community. I have also joined the Wellbeing Club to help promote wellness events for students to come together and relax amidst the busyness of the MBA.

What is one thing you have learned about LBS that has surprised you?
I did not realize how LBS is located at the heart of the city.

What is one thing you are most excited about as a new LBS student?
Getting to know my fellow students!
