Why did you make the decision to attend business school? Why now?
After spending close to seven years in corporate service, I developed a deep sense of interest to utilise my technical skillset & expertise into a strategic business career. To understand the precise tools & methodology needed, an MBA pathway felt like the right move now.

Why did you choose UMD Smith? What factors figured most prominently into your decision of where to attend?
The Smith MBA program at University of Maryland seamlessly aligned with my intended approach, emphasizing experiential learning with data and an AI-driven approach to business education.

2 major influential factors towards shortlisting the precise B-School for me were-

  • Inclination of my expected post-MBA goals with the school’s curriculum.
  • The lineage & reputation of the University globally.

What do you think is your most valuable or differentiating contribution to the Class of 2028?
The prominent differentiator would be of bringing a unique blend of skillset through an academia in technology & utilising it with the perspective of an international candidate who has worked across diverse and impact-driven environments.

In my professional journey, I have learned to bridge technology with real human needs, lead cross-functional teams in fast-changing environments. At UMD Smith, I aspire to share this practical perspective while learning from classmates with different industries and experiences.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that didn’t get included on your application:
I am a BIG-time foodie. I travel extensively across countries to explore their niche cuisines and understand their culture better by bringing people & discussions together over a good meal!!

Post-MBA career interests:
My short-term post-MBA goal is transitioning towards brand management roles in mid-to-large-sized corporations, while functionally I desire to utilize my skills in understanding customer preferences, optimizing engagement and elevating market share.

Advice for Current Prospective Applicants:
–What is one thing you would absolutely do again as part of your application process?
Strategic time management is the key. As a prospective MBA candidate, one must device a precise time-aligned path, where you are able to dedicate optimal resources towards all required components in the MBA application process. Revised Essays, High Standardised Test Scores & a strong LOR goes a long way.

–What is one thing you would change or do differently?
If I had a chance, I would probably go back and work & execute the preparation for the MBA interview round differently.

–What is one part you would have skipped if you could—and what helped you get through it?
The GMAT would be the answer. Being a major part of the application process, it takes ample time for its preparation & completion. I tried to device specific time slots across 4 months for its preparation. This is especially helpful if you are working full-time alongside.

What is your initial impression of the UMD Smith students/culture/community?
Smith’s collaborative & inclusive culture is something I have observed & felt from Day 1. Everyone collectively tries to ensure that we feel included in such a diverse campus community. It’s strong industry & alumni network is another prominent trait which we have already started working with.

What student organizations have you joined/are you hoping to join and why?
I am looking forward to join & be a part of the MBA Association panel at Smith School alongside applying for contributing to the student unit of Mayer Fund in my later duration through the program.

These student organizations not only work towards being great collaborative medium but also enhances our team building & management skillsets.

What is one thing you have learned about UMD Smith that has surprised you?
Smith has a massive DMV footprint with an extensive alumni network across domains, and it shows. Personally, I was really impressed with the core integration of AI they have implemented across their coursework. Collectively as a cohort, we have been able to learn business acumen in view with a technical standpoint!

What is one thing you are most excited about in your first year?
I am most excited about interacting & learning extensively from such an experienced set of faculties, professionals & my batchmates who bring in such diverse years of experience. I feel good to be back to university life and be a learner again!
