Interview was conducted at the end of October and I was admitted about 4 weeks later. I talked with the interviewer ahead of time and they told me that they would conduct the interview at their office and it would last about 1 hour and to be prepared to talk about the standard MBA questions. I was a bit nervous at first based on how high up this person was in their organization but it turned out it was very informal and basically a talk.
The interviewer did not come into the room with a note pad which made me nervous at first….the questions started off with “how did you get to where you are now” ( i talked from HS to college to now as i was not sure if they only wanted resume or the whole deal) and they asked small questions throughout that…for example “why did you choose that college vs another”
The next series of questions were, “Why MBA” “Why now” “Why CBS” i used the time to hit on specific items such as clubs, activities and my own personal values. At this point the interviewer stopped me and told me that i clearly had done my research and that they were impressed.
After those questions they asked why i wanted to go into the specific field i did and what i had done to prepare for it. I used this time to talk about a few companies to show the interviewer i had done my research. After that we talked about their experience at CBS and then about what jobs they had done following graduation. I asked a few questions at the end and then it was done, right at 45 minutes. As we left they showed me around the building, classy move, then i met with some of the partners of the firm and i was introduced as “a CBS student” which made me feel pretty good. The interviewer told me they would be in touch over the next few days as they finished the report and that i would be a great fit and that they really thought i should go there.
Overall, like others on this page it was laid back and not formal like some others i have done. Hope this is helpful and good luck!
