Wharton Hosts First-Ever Live Event for Renowned Podcast, The Pitch

What happens when the “best business podcast on startup life,” according to Fortune, decides to host its first-ever live show on the road? You get a live pitch competition to remember! Hosted at the Wharton School, Gimlet Media’s renowned podcast The Pitch featured three Philadelphia startups facing off in front of an audience and two prominent investors. The more than 300 students and guests spilled over from the auditorium to an auxiliary room on the University of Pennsylvania campus to watch the pitch competition and cheer for the winning team. Northwestern Kellogg 2018 Employment Report Reveals Increasing Interest in Tech and the West Coast

Last week, Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management released its 2018 Employment Report revealing a record number of graduates going into the tech industry (28 percent) and more companies hiring Kellogg talent than ever before. Other highlights include a growing number of graduates headed to the West Coast for jobs (around one-third) and a steady employment rate with 94.6 percent of students receiving a job offer three months post-graduation—a slight increase from 94.1 percent last year. Kellogg Job Offers and Salaries Remain Stable Over the last two years, Northwestern Kellogg has witnessed strong and steady base salaries and job offers with little to no change. Although the number of MBA graduates heading into consulting decreased slightly this year (down to 30.1 percent from 32.9 percent), the median salary was $147,000 for both years. The technology industry had similar results though interest increased year-over-year (24.9 percent in 2017 compared to 28.3 percent in 2018). Median base salaries in technology stayed consistent with just a slight increase from $125,000 in 2017 to $130,000 in 2018. Read more

Dartmouth Tuck 2018 Employment Report Shows High Employment Rates, Base Salaries, and Increased Tech Industry Interest

2018 was a solid year for the Dartmouth Tuck School of Business. According to their 2018 Employment Report, 96 percent of graduates received a job offer within three months of graduation. Other highlights include an increased interest in the tech industry with a record number of graduates securing a tech job (24 percent). Finally, average first-year base salaries and signing bonuses also increased to $162,170. 2018 Forté Foundation Data Reveals Women’s MBA Enrollment at 38%

2018 was a big year for female MBA students. According to the latest membership school data from the Forté Foundation, women’s enrollment at full-time MBA programs reached 38 percent on average. In addition, one Forté school reached gender parity (50 percent male/female enrollment) for the first time, and more than one-third of schools reached 40 percent enrollment. “While the number of Fortune 500 women CEOs has declined in the last year, it’s heartening to see women’s enrollment in business school continues to increase, albeit at a slower pace than last year,” Elissa Sangster, Forté Foundation CEO, said in a press release. “We continue to aim for 40% women’s enrollment by 2020 at our member schools as an MBA provides an economic mobility engine for women, and helps build the pipeline of women leaders. Georgetown McDonough 2018 MBA Employment Report Reveals Record-Setting Job Offers, Salaries

Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business set records this year for both salaries and job offers according to its Class of 2018 Employment Report, released earlier this month. An impressive 98 percent of students received job offers within three months of graduation, and average full-time salary rose to an all-time high of $116,946. Stanford GSB Tops Bloomberg Businessweek Ranking for First Time

The Stanford Graduate School of Business is no stranger to a top spot, but this is their first time claiming #1 on the Bloomberg Businessweek Best B-School list for U.S. programs. There are more familiar faces in the lead, with Wharton holding steady in second and Harvard Business School placing third. Gettin’ Paid: Recent Harvard MBA Grads See Starting Salaries North of $160K

Harvard Business School (HBS) this week joined other top MBA programs in publishing employment stats for its most recent graduates. Top takeaways? Try starting salaries exceeding $160,000. This year’s median base pay, $140,000, is up $5,000 over last year. In addition, 65 percent of the class earned median sign-on bonuses of another $25,000. I have been working in a software Mnc and recently got fired. I had initially planned to apply for MBA programs for 2027 intake. But given the recent layoff I'm not sure what to do next. I didn't yet take the gmat. And confused if I should do a job hunt now or prepare for gmat, since I wanted to apply for round 1s by sep.

I definitely want to go for a good International MBA for 2027 intake.

What should I do next, follow are the choices I can think of-

1. Prepare for a good gmat score, finish it in next 2-3 months, I also have a small startup idea that I would like to in parallel experiment/try out, not sure how far it will succeed.

2. Prepare for gmat, complete in next 2-3 months then do job hunt(might or might not be able to get a job by the time I apply for round 1s)
