Frequently Asked Questions
Is it harder to get into a top MBA program in Round 2 than in Round 1?
It is not harder to get into a top MBA program in Round 2 than in Round 1, unless the candidate is from an over-represented group. This is not to suggest that admissions committees discriminate against these candidates. But, they are charged with building a diversified class, which means they cannot afford to have one particular group over represented in the classroom.
When can I expect to hear back after submitting my Round 2 application?
After submitting your Round 2 MBA application, admissions committees send out decisions and/or interview invitations within weeks of the deadline. You may see on your target programs’ deadline page on Clear Admit or the schools' website when the admissions committees plan to release decisions, where provided.
What is MBA Round 2, and how is it different from Round 1 and Round 3?
MBA Round 2 is the second deadline in the admissions cycle. Most MBA programs have Round 2 deadlines in January, while Rounds 1 and 3 are in September and March/April, respectively. Round 2 tends to see the highest application volume across rounds and is also recommended as the latest time for international applicants to apply.
Do international applicants need to apply in Round 2 rather than Round 3?
Most MBA programs recommend that international applicants apply by Round 2 due to visa processing timelines. However, it can vary school to school as to whether international applicants are officially required to apply by Round 2. Be sure to check your target schools’ specific instructions regarding timeline.
